Q. What ingredients are in your sourdough bread?
Our classic sourdough bread contains just three ingredients: 100% organic flour, water, and salt. No commercial yeast, no seed oils, no corn, no synthetic additives ever. We believe real bread needs nothing else. Come experience the love and passion that goes into every bite at Hestia Sourdough.
Q. Is your bread truly organic?
Yes. Every ingredient we use is 100% organic, non GMO and seed oils free. We also use only non-toxic equipment in our baking process, from mixing to baking.
Q. What is sourdough and why is it different from regular bread?
Sourdough also known as natural or wild yeast is made by fermenting flour with water. Unlike commercial yeast, sourdough fermentation breaks down gluten proteins, lowers the glycemic index, and makes the bread easier to digest. It also preserves naturally without additives.
Q. Does your bread contain gluten?
Our bread is made with wheat flour and does contain gluten. However, because of our long fermentation process (minimum 48 hours), the gluten is partially broken down, which many gluten sensitive individuals find easier to tolerate. It is not suitable for people with celiac disease.
Q.Is your bread safe for people with yeast allergies?
Our bread uses only natural wild yeast, no commercial yeast is used at any stage. Many people who are sensitive or allergic to commercial yeast can safely enjoy our sourdough. This is actually one of the reasons Hestia Sourdough was founded our son cannot tolerate commercial yeast but thrives on natural wild yeast.
Q.Is your bread corn-free?
Yes. We do not use corn or corn derivatives in any of our products. All ingredients are carefully selected to be corn free.
Q.Do you deliver to my area?
We deliver across the entire Tampa Bay area, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon, and Wesley Chapel. Place your order online and we will bring it to your door. Free of charge.
Q.Where can I buy your bread in person?
You can find us at Meacham Urban Farm on weekends. Follow us on Instagram @hestiasourdough for updates on our schedule and availability.
Q.How far in advance do I need to order?
Because our bread is made in small batches with a minimum 48hour fermentation process, we recommend placing your order at least 3 or 4 days in advance to ensure availability.
Q.Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! Hestia Sourdough gift cards are available in our online shop a perfect gift for anyone who loves real, healthy bread.
Q.How long does your sourdough bread last?
Because we use no preservatives, our bread is best consumed within 3 or 5 days at room temperature. It can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. We recommend slicing before freezing so you can take out only what you need.
Q.How should I store the bread?
Keep it wrapped in a cloth or paper bag at room temperature for daily use, or slice and freeze for longer storage.
Q.How do I refresh the bread after freezing?
Take slices out of the freezer and toast them directly no need to thaw. For a whole loaf, warm in the oven at 350°F for 15 or 20 minutes
